weird elec gremlins in dash bezel

Been a while since i visited, spent 2 days rebuilding my 67 dash bezel, installed a billet insert & painted everything, new bulbs (9),,,plugged it all in & things went nuts, left blinker shows right,,no dash lights at all,gas gauge not working, good fuse,,,,think maybe the printed circuit is bad?
Thought a board member here may have had a similar problem?
Mods,,If this needs to be moved to Elec section ,can you move it for me?
Thanks
JFD

Re: weird elec gremlins in dash bezel

I cant remember but can the electrical plug be put in backwards? I thought when I have cahnged mine out that yhe pulg on the wiring harness can go on both ways. I always just looked at the plu and saw that on all of them that one terminal wasnt used IE: didnt make contact on the cluster printed circuit and just lined it up that way. Thats my only thought. Any body else have some suggestions for TraderJon?

Make sure your gauge cluster is GROUNDED to the dash metal.

Re: weird elec gremlins in dash bezel

I didnt think about the ground,,,I just got through checking the power to it,got power,,,,either i'm getting fat (cold bullets)or these cabs shrunk..gotta be a contortionist to get to it.
thanks Jhow

Longhorn,,,,,It's a gauge panel,,the original to the truck,,although it has a 68 bed,,,driver door is 72,,,,goodmark hood,,,85 c10 disc brakes,,Monte Carlo tilt..kind of mixture,but it works good.
I figure it was something i did while i had it out,,,did notice a bad spot in the circuit,,but everything worked when i pulled it ecept 2 burned bulbs.
Thanks JFD
