high beam indicator
y auto tech teacher said that my truck is suppose to have an high beam indicator that the fedreal gov maded them manutory after 1956 is this true i thought these trucks didn't have one?

I don't know about the validiy of the government law and time, but everyone one of these trucks has a high beam indicator light. Sorry for the blurry pic, but I have it circled. On some trucks it was square, and some (like the one I have) are round.
And my '58 apache truck also has a high beam indicator.

wow i didn't know that was a hgihbeam indicator mine just lights up with the lights on

Mine is a red dot in the indicated position when I switch to high.

Your high beam switch may be frozen. Check it out, lube it up, or replace it. Easy fix provided the floors aren't rusted out.

I think there is a cardboard tube that keeps the dash light reflections out of there, if that tube and/or the socket and light are missing, that might be the problem.

I second the cardboard tube. If it has came loose then it will light up when dash lights are on.

yeah if the carboard tube is gone it will light up with the gauge lights.. not as bright, but it will light up

just wemt out and checked and it does work didn't think it did but i do run the high beams so i can see

well you see i got to buy new mounts for the head lights these are bent and messed up i lucky the lights stay on the truck lol.
