79 to 81 differences

just looking at picking up a 81' 1/2 ton long box for the motor/tranny and front suspension to bolt into my 67'. My brother inlaw has a 79' 3/4 ton long box and I was wondering if the box and frame are the same, and anything else. I noticed the hood and fenders are different, Is the cab the same??
Thanks for any info you can give me...Hagen

Re: 79 to 81 differences

Cab is different. The 73-80 doens't have provisions to mount the hood hinges in the cowl and the wiper mounts with different number/location of bolts. Otherwise, if it is 4x4 vs 4x4, they are identical. If 4x4 vs 4x2, the trans tunnel is different.

crossmember: 3/4 don't use rubber bushings like a 1/2T does. Balljoints are different as is the spindle. Will it bolt in place of a 1/2T yes if you get all of it.

Steering box is the same.
