Back of cab trim molding........Proper way to re-install? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have to put the chrome trim on the back of the cab on my K-20..........Could someone shed some light on the proper way to re-install it? The way I took it off will make a mess of the new paint, and I would like to know the right way to do it.

I'd like to know this procedure as well. I have to install some kind of stud kit to my cab though, because it came without that trim piece originally.

i bought screws and clips on ebay for mine from a company called florida fastener but have not instaled the trim yet

I haven't installed it yet...........But I wish someone would be able to help because I don't want to scratch up the nice new paint.

My body man has a believe it is called a stud gun. It attaches the little studs to the metal for the clips. Not sure that you can get screws small enough to work.

Do you guys still have the studs on the back of your cabs? If yes then the procedure is to mount the clips on the studs. Then snap the trim on top of it. 73-79 ford pickups have a similar trim on the back of there cabs and that is how to install it.

Yup, I have them on mine.........The out clip on each side(One closest to the door) was broke, so I slid it off the rest of the clips. I was sure it didn't go back on the same way, but wasn't sure if the molding just snapped back on them either.

Once you slide the plastic clips on the little studs the chrome should just snap on to the clips.

For Those Of You That Dont Have Studs Already Check Out Ebay #220033068758. I Bought This Kit And It Worked Out Great. It Did Help That I Had A Cab Close That I Used As A Pattern So There In The Right Place. You Can Buy The Plastic Pieces Seperatly If You Have The Chrome Already.
