What Did You Get Done This Weekend?
My last post I had just installed my transfer case. Well today we installed the engine and transmission. This is my buddy Dave, the welder in my last posts, at the lift control, and my son Pat with the Mohawk
Me and Pat settling the engine in place. Engine sitting in place all bolted in. Went in pretty easily. A few scrathes on the oil pan and on the engine crossmember but they will touch up OK. Back in the garage. Pat let the dog sit on the engine go figure. Good feeling to have a rolling chassis again. I send more detail photos of the transmission lines and the other add ons. Reupholstered the seat for my '70 C10 and got the seat back in. Don't have to use the 5-gallon bucket anymore.

Re: What Did You Get Done This Weekend?
I got a big ass knot and a pretty good cut on my foredhead. C-notches are heavy when they come flying out of the vise because your drill "catches" and pulls it out and towards your melon.
Other than that, I got all my new stainless brake lines ran, brackets welded, braided lines attached, booster, prop valve & master cylinder mounted and prop valve bracket fabbed up and finished. Not as much as I had hoped, but I had a headache that prevented much more progress. |

Re: What Did You Get Done This Weekend?
I took pictures of cars and trucks all weekend.
Cruising The Coast Heck that is what i did all week to think of it. Unfortunately, other than buying a bunch of stuff for the 70, no work was done on it.

Re: What Did You Get Done This Weekend?
Tore down the original 402 out of my 1970 GMC, it's been sitting in my garage for the past couple months and now it's ready to take a trip to the builder when I have the cash.......may be a while. Did a little cleaning on the 350 that's currently in the truck too, just a little dirty after sitting in a field for 3 years.
Tomorrow I think I'm gonna start ripping apart the interior. |

Re: What Did You Get Done This Weekend?
I installed power steering in my '70 C-10! The power steering works better than i ever could have imagined. What an incredible difference. I can now easily turn the wheel with one hand, instead of 2 hands & body weight.

Re: What Did You Get Done This Weekend?
I had to do some rust repair on my Z71. Truck came from Indianpolis via Carmax. I looked it over very well, and I could only find a couple rust bubbles on the inside of the doors at the bottom. Told carmax to fix or I won't buy it. They sent it to a bodyshop and had the door bottoms redone. Stupid body shop bondoed over the top of the seam trapping water in the door. I realized this about a month ago when a section of my door bottom started seperating. I scraped all of the bondo off, opened up the seam on the door bottom, cleaned out the rust, sprayed a rust inhibitor on it, then topped that off with rust encapsulator. I pinched the door bottoms back together when done. I did all of that without harming the paint on the outside of the door I HATE rust!!!

Re: What Did You Get Done This Weekend?
Put on some 13 dollar Napa back-up lights. (bright as hell, good deal for 26 bucks), tried to yank off the header pipes for the exhaust, that was a failure. And then I re-re-rebuilt my stereo box for my truck.

Re: What Did You Get Done This Weekend?
Got the foundation painted and a few of the misc. little parts. I already had them sandblasted and got the primer on last weekend. It's nice to finally have a clean starting point. Along ways to go!!
