paint questions
2 Questions. 1. Whats the right way to prime over the e-coat that comes on new parts (in my case bedsides). do I just need to go over it with a fine grit? If so how fine? 2. Is there somewhere online that shows the all of th factory paint codes for these trucks? thanks

You don't NEED to prime over e-coat unless you want to do it to use a surfacer to spray on and then knock back down...
You can directly top coat over e-coat if you sand with 600 grit. if you want to use a surfacer I go over it with 320 just to get some bite on the new panel.. or you can sand with 400 and seal it...

Cmars Is Right. Also Use A Grey Scotch Brite And Go Straight To Topcoat, Or Red And Seal Then Color. I Also Use Something Called Final Sand, It's Kind Of Like Agressive Toothpaste, Use It With A Scotch Brite And It Works Really Well. Key With It, Make Sure You Clean Up Really Well. Some Epoxy Sealers Can Go Straight To E-coat With Out Scuffing At All On Non-exposed Surfaces I.e. Under Hood, Of Inside Fenders. I Dont Trust It Enough To Do It, Just Because For The 15 Mins It Takes To Scuff The Backside, It's Cheap Insurance. Plus Getting A Mechanical, And Chemical Bond Is Always Better.
