I found my way back...

Ok so some of you might remeber me, but I began my membership here on the forums all the way back in 2002. Back then I had a Red 72' Chevy SWB that was bagged. Then came college, so the 72' had to go in Winter 05'. Since I was moving out of state, the classic truck bug had to take a seat on the back burner for a while. Fast-forward to today and you've got me back in the scene after i graduated with my Associates Degree in Diesel Technology, except this time with a new Ride and a Real Job LOL!

Heres the scoop on the next truck and plans;
-72' Suburban 1/2 ton 2wd
-All Stock, right now with a little ISUZU DIESEL (thats right! LOL) and a 4 spd trans.
-Extremely straight and little to no rust!

The Plan;
-Remove Eng/Trans.(Dad's using them in his 66' SWB Project) and swap in a nice little SBC Chevy and Auto Trans.
-Suspension will be of the fully bagged-type and wheels will consist of some 18" rolling stock.
-Cosmetics will stay mostly the same, except for a few spots to be cleaned up such as removal of those big ugly mirrors and factory Cab marker lights etc.

Right now the plan is to build a nice little cruiser thats close to stock body-wise but will hover just inches off the ground on some nice big shiny rollers

Anyways, heres some pics-the red truck was my old Bagged' 72' SWB (R.I.P.)
and the second is the new project!

Thanks for lookin and happy truckin'!

Kenny

Re: I found my way back...

Heres the engine and some brief specs;

1984 Isuzu 235 cu.in. 4cyl Diesel Engine. Has a Bosch in-line mehanical Fuel pump, 17.5-1 compression and makes a huge 87 BHP and 166 ft-lbs of Torque! Not to mention it weighs 693 lbs! anyways, heres some pics...and if you want to know it sounds and rattles just like a little Kubota Tractor!

Heres the pics, sorry for the blurryness...

Welcome back!
I think your going the wrong direction with the Burb. Since you aquired your degree in Diesel Technology it seems only logical to have a hot rod with a diesel in it. Maybe not "that" diesel, but something you could build and put some of your newly aquired knowledge to use on.

That's what I was thinking too when I first read this!

Welcome back Kenny! I left for awhile too, but last November cut my frame and made a SWB!!! Now it's my little circus wagon.

Re: I found my way back...

Yeah, i know a hotrod diesel would be fun, and don't doubt that I've already pondered a 5.9 Cummins 12-Valve. The only problem is weight and cost. I would be looking at 3-5k for a good donor truck... Besides, Dad is using the Isuzu engine in his project and we plan on throwing a little turbo on it with an intercooler...shoul be a fun little project. Thanks for the comments guys!
