Original Radio Speaker ???

Ive seen plenty of 67-72 chevy trucks that has the original speaker underneath the dash and it has like speaker holes on the top of the dash. The Blazer that i have does not have the holes on the dash. Did Gm placed the speakers in different places. Im confused.

Luis.

Re: Original Radio Speaker ???

Hey Luis, I believe some Blazers had the speaker mounted under the ac/heater controls.

Blazers were a mixed bag. I don't know what determined in dash versus under dash. Here is a under dash picture I got off the board:

Re: Original Radio Speaker ???

Have had them both ways with no rationale as to why--both had factory radio's, both were from 72----just another one of them things in life that is designed to keep us humble!!hehehhe----Huck

I've even seen them with BOTH the speaker hole in the dash and the speaker underneath.

Maybe that was their idea of 'stereo'

Re: Original Radio Speaker ???

My 1970 has it under the dash on the passenger side... like aimed down towards the passenger's feet area. Is this also a common location?

Re: Original Radio Speaker ???

On a previous thread about this subject there was a theory that 72 was the only year that some Blazers/Jimmys had the hole in the dash and while others did not. This lead to the possibility (theory again) that truck dashes were used when they ran out of Blazer/Jimmy dashes.

Oh and my 71 has no speaker hole.
