Hello From Saskatchewan, Canada....eh!
I just stumbled upon this site yesterday. This is exactly what I've been looking for...a group that is enthused about the nicest trucks ever produced on the planet. I am working on a 1967 GMC 1/2 ton right now and am likely gonna need all the help and advice I can get. The truck was purchased new in '67 by my dad and now it's in my posession to fix up and upgrade. I have been dreaming about fixing this thing up since I was 15, so after 16 years of dreaming, I decided I better get to it. It is still in the deconstruction phase but should be pretty near ripped apart by the end of next week.
Looking forward to all the info I can get off this site. See you around! |

Re: Hello From Saskatchewan, Canada....eh!
I am a little unsure of which direction I am going right now. Not bare bone stock for sure. I was thinking of a subtle drop, adding power steering and disc brakes, relocating the gas tank, rims of course, upgrade to a 3 spd auto tranny and likely get rid of all the side trim and paint it a solid color. For now, being the budget is limited, I'll fix up the 283 and use it that way. Would like to do up a 350 in the future...there have been thoughts of a 383 stroker but we'll see. Any suggestions?

Re: Hello From Saskatchewan, Canada....eh!
LOL don't drop it too much or there won't be an oil pan left with our roads. Truck looks in nice shape! Keeping the stock color or will it be a custom? BTW where in Sask are ya from? Judging from the flat plain in the background of the pics I am assuming somewhere south.

HeavyD I am 40 minutes down the road from you. Kinistino. The pic with the flat land in the background was taken at the family farm down by Kindersley.
Hoping to do a custom color on the thing. What kind of truck you got and what color is it? Just wondering if I've seen it around. I did see a couple in PA recently. 1 purple, 1 blue. |

Welcome from another Canadian! That truck looks very solid for a old farm truck. Good luck with your build.

Re: Hello From Saskatchewan, Canada....eh!
Well, I officially have this truck tore down to the frame. Sandblasting and paint are hopefully just around the corner. Any feelings on paint vs powder coating? I am a little concerned about powder coating bubbling off when the salt gets to it.
