Also, are these ABS. I can lock up my front discs on my 72' with no sweat.
Fronts are next. They are also off '03 burb.

Re: 6 lug rear disc install done!

Yes, these brakes will require 17" or larger which is what I had planned from the start. Burbs are stock rear disc even of the '06 and '07 models. Trying to make this stuff work I found a rear disc brake option code JL2 for pickups. Here are a few part numbers:

Disc brakes: don't know, got them off car-part brand new 2003 Suburban
$209.00 with shipping
e-brake cables: 15087072 $39.95
15087071 $29.95
brake hose with bracket (would have bought stainless braided hoses but need the bracket that holds the hose and only serviced with the hose for some reason) : 21999529 $39.73
21999528 $39.91
clip (holds the RH e-brake cable and hard brake line on top of the pumkin):
15206266 $ 3.64
guide (on '06 JL2 trucks, hold the e-brake cables freely so they can move with the suspension):
15258706 $ 8.43
15221823 $ 1.71

Total parts to date : $379.79

Still have to come up with a custom hardline and figure out how to make the e-brake cable work, but that will all come one I get the rear end built and installed which is what I am working on now. Unfortunately progress has been slow the last few months and I am hoping that will change over the winter.

Re: 6 lug rear disc install done!

SWEET SWEET deal man! IIRC you have dual piston calipers on the rear.. ive got a set of single pistons (disc conversion kit w/ lowered spindles from brothers trucks) for my front already... and the question is.. would it be dumb to have singles in the front and doubles in the rear? would the 'correct' thing be to have them match?

I am putting the '03 brakes up front as well so they will match when done. What I forgot to mention above is that I had to machine the center of the rotors out to clear the large bore. Luckily I have a good friend who is a machinist.

It would be best if they matched, but you could run an adjustable proportioning valve to tune the balance on the brakes which I will be doing. The larger brakes serve a saftey issue most people ignore when installing bling wheels (22" and larger) or 40" off road tires. All that extra rotating mass requires larger binders to stop as effectively as the stock stuff stopped original equipment. I will be running 18" wheels and 33" tall Nitto tires.

Re: 6 lug rear disc install done!

ok i gotcha. so now when you say you had to machine out the rotors, do you mean the area that appears to be the e brake 'drum'? or just the hole in the face of the rotor that the axle hub pops through?

The center hole of the rotor that fits over the axle hub.

No, original rear end with new axle flanges in the same location.
