Angry

Yeah, my daughter did that and not long after I had just replaced everything back there including drums, shoes, hardware and wheel cylinders. What can I say, I still love her.

May those who love us, love us, any of those who do not love us, may God turn their hearts.
And if God is unable to turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles so we may know them by their limping.

A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.

Never happened to me (wife says she'll never drive the truck now)
But at the shop... it happens more than you can imagine. Seen a few cars melt the hubcaps right off the wheel.

My wife did it with my 'burb just last week! She said, "I think there's something really wrong with the Suburban. It was smoking a LOT when I drove it. It smelled like a burning clutch." (but it's an automatic).

Oh well.

Thumbs up

Had a driver do it once, at work. 99 Mazda b2500. Came back from a run and you could smell brake fuild burning! So I took it to the local Merlins, and by the time I got it there, the drivers side wheel was on fire!!!!! You should of seen the shop owners face when I pulled the truck in in front of his front door!! PRICLESS!

Mine has never drove with the brake on, don't think she knows what that is. But I have seen her throw one into park running about 20 mph. Man what a noise!

I can't understand how people can drive that far with the e-brake on.

That being said I was talking to my mother last night and she off handedly mentions that her oil light is on in her car. I ERUPT, I asked her how long that had been and how far she had drove it. Fortunately it basically just happened yesterday and she had only drove to work and home with is about 3 miles. She wasn't going to do anything about it until my father gets home from moose hunting on Saturday but I told her to get to a garage and have them look at it ASAP.

Idiot lights are a poor invention due to the fact that they all look alike and some ar much mor important than others. For instance the seat belt Idiot light is red and right next to your oil Idiot light which is also red and not to mention they have created idiot lights for everthing from your gas cap to your hood.

Just venting

When I was a teenager baling hay with my father, My mother used to help haul. I remember on at least 3 seperate times my mother failing to release the emergency break on the way back from the field. Sometimes my dad (fuming all the way) and I would follow the cloud of black smoke in another truck behind her. Most of our trucks had no rear brakes after one season of haying.

One advantage to having a tranny brake is that you can smell the shoe burning earlier. Disadvantage is when you have to change it!
