Somebody should make repro bucket seats

I've been toying with the idea of putting bucket seats in my truck as I'm tired of resting my knees on the dash when my wife is driving. She's got to crank the bench all the way up because she's a hobbit.

I've contacted a couple of junkyards to see what they've got. If they have one of our trucks it has a bench or the buckets are already gone.

Why doesn't someone like ECE make repro bucket seat frames and brackets? Seems to me they'd be able to sell them. I'd buy them anyway.

I definitely want stock seats, I just plain don't like the look of anything else in these trucks. Well, actually that's not true. When they're completely rodded out than it looks pretty cool. I think I would hate stock seats in that case.

Anyway, what do you guys think? Because I'm thinking of finding out how much it would cost to fabricate them. Of course, I'd have to locate some freakin' buckets in the first place for measurements.

Maybe that's what I'll call them, "Freakin' Buckets".

Re: Somebody should make repro bucket seats

73-76ish lowback buckets are the same basic thing as the 67-72 buckets

Re: Somebody should make repro bucket seats

The passenger side brackets are repo'd IIRC, so all you have to do is find a set of blazer buckets (which pop up on the board fairly often), recover them, use the new repo passenger brackets, and you are good to go. If there are more differences than this someone please step in.

Re: Somebody should make repro bucket seats

dodge vavs thru the mid 80's used almost identical buckets that a good upholstery shop with a little creative foam work can make into really nice counterfit buckets at a fraction of the price that the"factory correct"seats are going for
