Fuel tank

Hi all, I'm new here and this is my first posting. My question is this, I plan on deleting the fuel tank from behind the seat and placeing another one between the rails in the back. Has anyone done this to a 62 SWB? and if so any advise. Thanks

Re: Fuel tank

I got a plastic tank off the internet. It is probably around 27 gallons..I can post a pic, it looks like it came on my 63.

Re: Fuel tank

Welcome to the board!! where you'll never be bored. ...Somebody hit me with a board. I had a brother that got gored! Dang steer bored a hole right through him.

I'm using the stock factory saddle tanks that came with my Custom Camper. I bought a couple of 35 ohm universal sending units from Yogi's and a fuel tank switch from a late model truck/ suburban so I can tell how much gas is in each tank. Apparently the prefered method back then was to run the saddle tanks dry, then switch over to the main so you'd know when you were running low.

My truck was designed to carry a lot of fuel too, the two saddle tanks calc out at 19 gals each and the behind-the-seat tank has a 20 gal capacity. That's almost 60 gallons of fuel!!!! It'd cost me $150.00 to fill up at today's prices!!!

Re: Fuel tank

There is less expensive but not many better.

http://www.rickshotrodshop.com/truck.htm

the 60 - 62 are abit unique in that the X-frame and the rear is wider than the 63-66. You see many built for the 63-66's but not that many for the 60-62's
