what all did you get done on your rides?

i spent all of friday stripping down and getting parts to rebuild a 12b for the short truck, completely dissamsembled and steam cleaned the housing. then got the 14b stripped, gutted, ground the lower housing lip clean off and half reloaded with my detriot and 4.56 ring gear for the long truck.

saturday went to a funeral and then to the bar with some buds.

sunday, spent all day rebuilding the 12b with new 3.73's and posi. had to setup the brake system twice as the 12b stuff off the 70 4x4 rear used wider drums and shoes thant the 2wd trailing arm 12b could make function. got it fully reinstalled though, just need to add gear oil and measure for my new d shaft.

now i have to stay up late so i can go to work monday night and not monday morning, yeah!

picked up my engine from the machinist.Picked up a pile of fresh sheetmetal from the bus depot.Patched the filler neck hole finally.Trial fit the new sheetmetal and had a meeting with the bodyman that went very well.I hope this is one of those rare times that things go smoothly.Have a couple of pics of the dash mod that I decided to do.It turned out well I think but it was hard for me to change a good thing.
Unfortunately I found out tonight that I lost a much loved member of the family which really puts this weekends progress in perspective.

Sanded for what seemed like an eternity on bedsides and its still not right. I should have picked a shortbox. Less steel means less sanding

Pulled the rear end and front crossmember out of an 82 gmc. Cleaned and painted the crossmember and prepared for the "swap" this weekend. woohoo!!

BarryB,I meant that whenever I go home to work on the truck,that is all I do most of the time.I have intentions to go visit family in the area but haven't lately.
I got back to my place yesterday afternoon and received a call a few hours later that my grand dad passed away suddenly.
I'm just real sorry that it took him passing away for me to realize that I've been neglecting the important stuff.

Got all 8 valves mounted (four pairs mounted together), got all my hoses run and everything is waiting for wires and rear bags.

Finished replacing the driver's side inner/outer rocker, kick panel, cab corner and floor. Thought I'd finish cutting out and replacing the rust on the passenger side but my regulator started leaking so I will have to wait to finish welding (I guess that's what you could call it) the kick panel and outer rockers. I'm learning as I go. Still have to remove my 67 dash (P.O. hacked it up for a radio) and put in my 72 uncut dash with A/C cut outs. Hope it fits because my welding looks good as long as you don't have to see it.

finished welding up my wire trough delete panel in and ground down smooth. there was also a lot more grinding involved around floor pans cab corners and rockers just a little bit more welding and the thing will be ready for blasting then body work. Going to do some more grinding and filling of holes on the bed today.

got my stereo put in my 88 burb that i bought a coupla weeks ago.the kid that i bought from had a mess of wires in there when he took out his boom.had to start all over again but got it all hooked sounds great.

Put on front brake hoses, worked on the wiring harness and got the engine starting by the switch now. Tried bleeding the power steering but it apparently is not pumping, at all. And my new 4 row radiator is now leaking.....daddurnnit!

got new tags and registration done... this weekend I am planning on scavenging a 76 for the sway bar and what ever else i can get

Cleaned out the cowl panel and kick panel vents. Nasty! The only place not clogged with leaves and tree debry was around the wiper mechanism. Took about 4 hours to get it clean and install the old air products cowel vent trash guards I bought at the swap meet friday. They seem to be working goog so far. When was the last time you checked your cowl panel aka the leaf and rust magnet?

Started pulling the front end off of the 72swb truck, sold some parts to a board member, now I a stuck with the dilema of do I restore the cheyenne fenders with moldings (some rust) or do I install some rust free fenders that I already have that are shaved and then add the moldings to them. Need some input here. Here is a pic of one of the fenders so you can compare the two.

well not really this past weekend but i installed my new prop valve with coiled lines today. unfortunetly i didn't get them prebent but with a couple large sockets and a bench vice i got them made. needless to say i'll be buying some tools when i do this on the show truck or i'll just have someone else do it.

Inttake valve let go.... blew off carb, gas went everywhere... followed by a hot fire!!!.... all i did this weekend was fire damage repair...

It's never an easy thing to deal with. Going forward, just be sure to let family members and others know what's on your heart. If you feel like calling, just for no reason, do it. We never know how much time we have with each other.
