Incompetent People
Well about 2 months ago I was getting ready to make my treck to school here in MA from Iowa. I though I had everything ready until the night before I remembered I hadnt changed my oil yet. I was in a rush so I took my truck to the local walmart and got it done. Worked fine until i had a big leak of oil. I couldnt figure out what it was until today. They had put the worng oil filter on. It was a filter for a 6 cylinder engine (FRAM PH30 vs PH5). That makes me so mad. I dont think its that hard to look up in a book what filter is supposed to go on. From now on I will always do this like this myself. So the morel of the story...dont get your oil changed at Walmart! Sorry to i needed to vent.

Our local Wall Mart quick lube left the oil out of a friends daughters '86 tpi Trans Am. It was lubed, the mastercylinder topped off and a new filter. No oil.

A woman I work with bought a toyota pickup, took it to walmart to have the oil changed, drove 3 miles and all the oil puked out on the ground.
Come to find out, it was the wrong filter. Am I the only one seeing a pattern here?

Be careful of the "quicky" lube places. Our shop is right next door to a econolube... they send us plenty of business!

My dad had the complete lube job at jiffy lube a month ago. they changed the oil, checked the lube everywhere else. A few weeks later he was driving up to see me and his transmission seized up. lack of oil! They didnt check jack sh!t. Jiffy lube bought him a new transmission at $2200 . They didnt even put up a fight.

the ph5 is about 2-3 inches longer than the ph30. Alot of folks will substitute the 30 with a 5 for added protection.
More than likely they double gasketed the filter. At times the old filter o ring will stick to the engine block. New filter is installed and NOW there are 2 gaskets which will cause a major leak. |

Had a buddy at work that has just paid to have a new motor put into his 4x4 Isuzu and he took it to walmart to get the oil changed on its first oil change. When he went to pick it up there was a line of oil from his truck to the garage area. Turns out they forgot to put the plug back into the pan and no one noticed the oil in the shop or the line of it out the door. The real funny part is they tell him to give them the keys and they will drive it back in and fill it up and have a new plug put into it. He asked them if they were stupid and told them it had no oil in it and they could push the truck back into the shop.

I would NEVER take my truck to any kind of lube place, or dealership. They don't know their a$$hole from their elbow. Besides I could do the job 10 times better, and pay myself.
Our Jetta went for its first oil change after we bought it brand new. The punk kid stripped the drain plug putting it back in, and the next morning after getting it back there's a huge puddle of oil in my parking space. I had to add a quart, and drive over immediately on a workday to have them fix it. Since I'm under warrantee I HAVE to have them do it. It sucks. When I was in highschool I used to work at a hardware store where we rented out lawn mowers, tillers, etc. Every damn weekend one of the ditsy girls who works up front would rent out a piece of equipment and NOT check to see if it had oil in it, or call us up to handle the equipment. I must have helped rebuild 10 small engines while I worked there. They'd be completely seized. All they had to do was check the oil...

I agree, never ever let wal mart work on your truck. One of my friends took her 75 chevy in to have the brakes replaced, and the next day she was towing a horse trailer and the caliper came lose and cracked the rotor. It turned out that they didn't tighten the bolts when the replaced the pads.
