front bags?

i am not sold on going disc brakes yet, but want to lower my front 3 to 4 inchs. will bags do this without a spindel change? i clipped one ring off my old coils ( wore out old coils) the drop measured about 2 1/2 inchs. need 1 more inch. a lot of people seem to think drums work well with power, plus i am intrested in this 3/4-1 ton set-up everyone is talking about. not sure if anybody has this all worked out parts wise yet? thanks, pkj

Re: front bags?

My Slam Specialties measure about 4" with no air. If you add the bottom cup (I haven't cut mine yet) you are looking at another 4". So figure a total of 8" of bag, plus it doesn't sit as high as the spring, but I would guess that the overall drop with a bag front would be around 4" lower than springs.

I wouldn't drive it that low, but you could drive it at around 3" with stock spindles. The kit from GMC Pauls was only $470 + shipping. It was easy to do and if your ball joints are in good shape, then it's well worth the dough for the additional 2.5" of drop and the added stoping power.

I think he means 4 inchs lower than the spring? But any way you go you will have to get an alignment afterwards. Whether you do Spindles or air bags. Personal I am about to do spindles from www.gmcpauls.com. They are less expensive and the added stopping power over the drums. It is a great deal and honestly you will want to in the end.
