What did you get done? 10/29

I didn't do anything to my 77 Cheyenne this week. I'm planning on pulling it out next week and go for a cruise if the weather stays this nice.

Saturday I washed all my daily drivers since it rained this week. My wife's Denali got a complete detail and my Silverado got a wash and dry. I spent the afternoon finishing up my lighting project on my house. After 3 more trips to the hardware store I finally have all the fixtures matching.

I made a few service calls this morning then I found some time to work on my Silverado CC. I finally located some stainless carriage bolts to put in the license plate holes on the front bumper. I chucked them up in my drill, filed the heads down low, and polished them up so they shine like chrome.

I put them in the bumper and polished the marks where the front plate was mounted. That lead to polishing the bumper which lead to a complete wax and detail of the entire truck....

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? 10/29

i worked all day saturday, when we were about to leave for lunch a mexican cement guy came and asked us if we had jumper cables, we were like no, because we didn't have any, as we was about to leave my dad remembered we had some romex in the bed, we had 2 strands like 3 1/2 feet long, i pulled the truck up to where it was touching plastic to plastic, and hooked them up, needless to say ROMEX CAN ACT AS JUMPER CABLES!

Re: What did you get done? 10/29

Started by deciding to lower my tweeters by 3db on the crossovers. It's done by a jumper. I mounted the crossovers way up in the dash, anyways, as I was trying to see (my son killed the batteries in every single flashlight I own!), I dropped the tiny jumper, ARGHHHH, fell behind the kick panel, into where the rubber vent is...I never found it, luckily I have another complete set of components, and stole a jumper, but I want my jumper back!!!!!!
Got that done, cleaned up some junk in the garage, now my truck bed is full, guess I'll make a dump run next weekend.
Been so busy at work, I cut the grass and edged for the last time this year, until spring...

Re: What did you get done? 10/29

Well, my A/C died on Thursday, and I have neither the time, knowledge, or money to get it fixed. Saturday I got a speeding ticket, 63 in a 45 (darn speed trap) so instead of going to Nachitoches for the football game I came back to the house and continued stripping the 1984's interior.

I took out the carpet, insulation, and rubber pad, sooooo gross. Also removed the jank cardboard panel and storage bag thingie, and all the plastic/metal trim in the cab. The only interior left in the truck is the headliner. And MAN OH MAN is the floor beautiful on that truck! Only rot that is starting is, ironically, underneath the rubber seals. Next weekend I'm going to remove the gauge cluster with the assistance of my dad. During the week this coming week I plan on removing the hood and fenders to clean them up, picture them, and list them for sale.

Also starting to get a bit of valve clatter in Ol' Red, but that may be related to some bad gas. *crosses fingers* Poor ol' truck. Carburetor is SHOT. No doubt a camlobe is rounded off. Just one more winter....

Rather eventful truck(s) weekend if I do say so.

Re: What did you get done? 10/29

I went to go check out new mobile homes for a buddy of mine's new lake lot. We went to the manufacturing plant, and it was actually pretty cool. That was most of Saturday.

Friday night, we went to see Jimmie Vaughan play at the Lakewood Theater (a restored twenties theater in Dallas). We were able to go right up to the stage. It was a fundraiser, so there were not a wole lot of people there, maybe 300 or so. It was a great concert, in a really cool venue.

Today, I purchased a new chainsaw, and cleared a ton of trees at my mother in law's house. Everything was going fine, until I got hit in the mouth with a big branch. At least that got me a good, homecooked meal!

Went to the swap meet and got an exhaust tip from a friend for a buck, can't beat that.

Then didn't do anything else.

Re: What did you get done? 10/29

Today I had the joy of cleaning flower bed and trimming trees but it was not a total loss. I loaded up all the branches and trash in the back of the 68 and headed to our shop dumpster, my son said I was crazy for using it but that's what I built it for and besides the dogs get to ride and they are starting to really like the lowered truck.

Re: What did you get done? 10/29

Pulled a complete TBI harness and system from B-Body donor car at the local junk yeard. Did some research into surge tanks, since 75 does not have buffles in the gas tanks. Lots internet research into Carb to TBI conversion....

Rebuilt and rejetted my quadrajet so I can get through emissions testing next weekend... Found out my power valve was stuck in the "up" position, which explains the test failure from before. Sure runs good now.

Re: What did you get done? 10/29

Saturday, washed the burb... Even in cooler weather, the thing is SO huge, by the time I get to drying it, I have waterspots on the windshield. Thing looks great. I am 100% convinced that the Bilsteins I installed on my burb last week are the best shocks I have ever had. I thought they were a little stiff at first, but after about 100 miles or so, they ride just AMAZING now. That truck's street manners are just incredible now. I went from something that feels spongy and vague to the complete opposite.

Took the dirtbike to the track Sunday... What a great day. Last weekend the track is open though...

Re: What did you get done? 10/29

Sat I spent a little time @ work & then went & looked @ a 67 short-step. We went to go see Saw III because my GF's daughter just had to see it..... yet they all sat through the movie w/their hands covering their eyes .

Sun I actually got my engine hoist & misc tools back from my friend. I went ahead & spent the day getting my SBC dropped into my 68 only to pull it back out to correct some issues. Oh well maybe next weekend.....

Oh, I managed to scratch my freshly painted firewall in 2 spots getting the motor out! That sucks.

Re: What did you get done? 10/29

I got some work done on my Cavy on Sunday. Got a whole new bumper painted and on. New turnsignals, simdemarker lights and headlights. Hung out with my dad and my bros on Saturday. Just chilled and watched some movies on Friday.

Re: What did you get done? 10/29

had to work today, it's been a crazy month...busy.
Found a guy locally who has a 5.3/4l60 for sale. Came out of an 04 tahoe w/ 9k miles!
He is asking $2k, would probably take less, he's desperate to get rid of it to buy a 6.0l
what a steal, too bad my wallet is on permanent vacation or I would take the plunge.
I did score a 91 burb fgrill/support and all accessories for a swap for $150....The grill is in good shape, has one bad spot.
Not a bad deal at all. Been waiting for one of these. Maybe I'll do it over a few vacation days or comp days from work over xmas.
Will post pics.
