Color suggestions?

Im restoring a 71 GMC 4x4 swb....Im getting close to starting the paint job but I can't decide on a color. I'm painting the truck myself (in my garage and driveway) so I want to use a color that is not metallic so I can wet sand the dust and my "newbie" mistakes out. Any pics would be great. Thanks

Re: Color suggestions?

What color was the truck originally and what color will the interior be? Most of your solid colors are forgiving, white, red, yellow, blue, turquoise, green?

Re: Color suggestions?

If you spray a metallic with basecoat/clearcoat, you will be able to wet sand/ buff your mistakes from the clear. The basecoat is very easy to apply. Look in the body and paint section for tips!!

Re: Color suggestions?

I suggest orange, as it still isn't seen all that often and looks great on these trucks. Here is a pic of one of my favorites..I don't know who owns it but it's beautiful.

I Agree With Centless Bc/cc Is The Only Way To Go. Just Make Shure You Have Enough Clear So You Dont Sand Through.

Re: Color suggestions?

Heres mine and you dont see this color everyday. It's called Coral Ice Pink and it was, I think( maybe someone from the USA can verify this) , an exclusive to Canada mid year color in 1971. I have the paint code if you want it.

Color suggestions ! !

Try navy gray with rivits, lines, military insignia, with millitary leaf springs.
Or gun metal blue, dark gray rims. Name: trucks little.jpg

Re: Color suggestions?

Hugger orange and white is an excellent choice, if it is a fleetside, and you retain the chrome, then a white top and white stripe between looks pretty good to me, depends how custom or stock you want to be.

Re: Color suggestions?

Thank you very much Kylle, I love it, you should hear it, blububablabablubaba, it has a nice built 350 with high a lift crower cam & ceramic coated Hooker headers into 3" dual flowmasters, I don't even listen to the stereo much, I like to hear that rumble.
