shock relocaters

started putting the bags in last night with brackets i made. all fits nice. i already removed the shock brackets before painting frame. question is can i reuse these by adding or making a bracket? has anyone done this and what are the specs? funner to make somethings then just buy them. thanks, pkj

guess my head is not on right today. 68 1/2 ton, rear. i know i can buy them, but would like to see if anybody has fashioned a way to relocate the original ones. thanks, pkj

You can reuse the lower rear ones, simply flatten out the edges (torch and hammer) and flip side to side. This worked on mine and I'm pretty satisfied with the ride.

Yep, Early Classic used to provide a shim so you didn't have to flatten them out. They can be flipped upside down and swapped from the drivers side to the passenger side.

i am confused. i thought it was the top brackets that you change when you lower truck? i already cut the rivets and removed these prior to paint. please get me on the straight and narrow. thanks, pkj

I guess you could also turn the top brackets around (as they are asymetrical) to get your shock to stand up better. I would align them so the shock is more of a vertical position, hence more effective. Also, you could still flip the bottom ones, as it puts the shock mount lower in relation to the axle.

Just for my curiosity, how low is your axle (or high in relation to the frame) going to be? What size notch are you using/not using? Mine's bagged w/o a notch and I was thinking about putting a bolt in notch in (came with bags)?

Pictures of your brackets, both for the shocks and the bags would be helpful for my personal uses (redesigning my own truck).
