I just received my LMC catalogue today. It has a lot of parts I need such as floor board sheet metal along with rockers and sills. I need all the cab and engine rubber seals as well. Has anyone purchased and used LMC parts and are they a quality part or will i have fit problems? As far as sheet metal is Goodmark a better alternative?

I've never ordered from LMC seems like they are a little higher on their stuff. You might try one of the vendors on this board.

LMC has never gotten a single order right, and every time they fixed it, but the correct parts never fit properly either.
Do a search, you'll see lots of bad reviews on them.

Maybe I got lucky w/LMC. I've also had good luck with Classic Parts/Chevy Duty.

I have bought many, many things from chevy duty=classic parts during the past few years with great results until recently. It seems I am having to call them and force them to ship the parts! Its like they just lay the order aside and forget it. I decided to try LMC and they have shipped quickly and never made a mistake in my orders. Classic parts is good but they seem to be having a problem with filling internet orders.

I have had a ton of luck with Brothers Trucks www.brotherstrucks.com and GMCPauls www.gmcpauls.com, both are board vendors.

I've used LMC on three diferent occasions ordering numerous smaller parts. All shipments were sent promptly and items were as advertised. No complaints. They have a great selection, but they are a little pricey on some items compared to others.

This is just my opinion...

I have bought a number of parts from a large variety of truck parts vendors. What I have seen is that most of the shops (both big and small) sell mostly exactly the same parts. And many of them buy and sell parts from each other (i.e. Early Classic selling Brother's one piece window kits and Brother's selling Early Classic LED tail lights, etc.) As a result, if you go on price and develop a nice warm and fuzzy with one supplier, be loyal or shop around.

Two general observations. First of all, a lot of the aftermarket parts will not fit as well as NOS. If you care and have the money, and one of the vendors sells the original GM part you are looking for, go with it. You won't be disappointed. Second, LMC carries the most parts on volume that I have seen. In fact, I believe they have a bunch of the stuff they carry made for them (especially rubber stuff). As a result, LMC might be the only place you will find that carries the part you are looking for. Will it fit? Good question.

On these boards, LMC gets a pretty good beating for being poor customer service, expensive, and ridiculous shipping prices. I have never dealt with their customer service, as I have only ordered online--their shopping method is second to none in this industry. I haven't seen where they are more expensive than anyone else; some places will be more expensive and some will be less expensive, and it's a crapshoot to see where each part will be the cheapest. Finally, I think their shipping prices are a little high, but I think everyone of these vendors is making a profit on shipping these days. They all seem to be equal in this regard. Save up and order as many parts as you can. Since their shipping scale is based on order total, you can really get nailed with one $5 or $10 part.

LMC has been good to me, but I was made a customer of Early Classic first based on a drop in visit a number of years ago.

LMC is ok but it really depends on what you buy. some things are priced well and are of decent quality while other other thigs are a complete ripp off. buyer beware and shop around. things like springs, little parts, bushings, and brackets are ok to buy from LMC but i wouldn't purchase ball joints or other important items from them again.

Just a note on the sills - I bought mine direct from GM.
This was a few years back, but they may still be selling them. Always good to check for factory parts first though.

I have used LMC parts on several of my projects and have had good luck with them. I have also used Brothers and really like them-also they are just 45 minutes from my house.Most places sell sheetmetal that comes from "overseas" if you want the "REAL" stuff then you're going to pay for it.

I used lmc often, I order on line and never had a problem with them. shipping is very expensive and shop around for better prices. They have a great catalogue that helps a lot.

Personally I would buy goodmark sheetmetal I have no idea what LMC sells. My truck has goodmark doors and fenders. I had to do A LOT of adjustment to get them to fit (extra grinding, drilling, etc) but it was worth it to have a rust free panel and I was happy with my door/fender/cab alingment when I was done.

I did a little research for you:
Here's a list of authorized goodmark dealers in IL. You may want to look through the list and find one close to you, give 'em a call, and ask about pricing (they are usually a good bit cheaper than whats posted on Goodmarks site). You can pick the parts up in person and save $$$$$$$ on shipping costs, especially if you buy "big" pieces.

Before I had a pc buillding my truck from the frame up the first time I bought a lot of stuff from LMC. It was the only company I had heard of at the time until I seen an ad for Chevy Duty. I returned one thing from LMC and that was some Red carpet. When I got it it was orange. Found out that is the red carpet. No problem they exchanged it no problem with black.

I think most of the parts you get from all vendors are basically the same or come from the same companies. LMC is doing something right becasue they are probably the biggest vendor out there.

I still believe we should support the vendors we have here on these boards. By them being here it makes me want to believe they are here for the love of these trucks and not just for our money.

My experience with LMC has been hit and miss. I have had excellent support with our board member vendors so that would be my direction---!
LMC's catalog is #1 for reference.
Goodmark sheet metal is in most cases no different in quality then any other as they simply rebox the tiwan stuff after some BS quality check. I have yet to get excellent Goodmark anything--and that is after buying 3 sets of doors, hood, fenders, multiple tailgates, bedside, etc. Before I buy any new tiwan sheetmetal, I would pick it up personally to inspect it--no big deal on floor pans but outer metal is often dinged, dented, or assembled poorly.
As far as LMC being the biggest---I doubt it. The TruckShop in Orange County Calif is the largest set up at any swap meet in US. They are a huge in both the retail & wholesale market---. Closest board member dealer to you is probably GMC Paul who is just a bit west of Indi.
