Where do you look?
I think I have a rear seal going out. This is the engine.
10066036...350...........2 or 4...Target Master/Goodwrench crate motor, 2-piece rear seal How could I tell for sure? I was just under there and noticed a little oil on the tranny dust pan and starter bolt. Thanks

Pull the dust cover and shine a light up in there and look between the flange that the flexplate bolts to and the back of the block. If it's wet, it's probably the rear main. Could also be a converter seal......

Well I finally got under there and had a look. That flange looks dry. Here is a pic. However the 1/2 bolts and the first 2 3/8 were very loose. I snugged them up and cleaned up the area. Going to keep a eye on it. Also lesson learned tonight is that IF i have to swap out a oil pan gasket or a seal that engine is coming out

the rear main seal is going to leak a little no matter what the condition
if there is any puddle overnight bigger than the size of a dime you have problems try tightening you oil pan bolts they tend to loosen up over time |
