question about hole in dash

does anybody know why there would be a hole in the dash of my '69 truck on both ends by the doors? Heres a pic of one of them:

Re: question about hole in dash

Certainly not factory...I agree that it looks like Previous Owner was trying to install A/C.

Re: question about hole in dash

I can't complain. Looks like all my truck's P.O. did was drive it, and install a manual water valve in the heater hose when the temp. door broke in the HVAC box. Oh, and install what must have been the goofiest 'big rig' rear view mirrors ever made. Took me a whole afternoon to weld up all the holes.

Re: question about hole in dash

That switch above it reminds me of the comercial on TV "Honey, do you know what this switch in the garage does? No dear".....as the neighbors garage opens and slams on her car!!!!

I concur on the A/C install, or attempt at an install!

Re: question about hole in dash

My PO had a fetish for little blue lights each with their own switch across the dash. 8 little blue lights+ 8 switchs + 2 CB mounts and one brake controller=26 holes I had to weld in the cab. They were all less than 5/8" not a butcher like yours.
good luck straightening that out

Re: question about hole in dash

You are all wrong....he cut the hole so he could get his had behind the dash easier to screw in the back of that toggle...

or...maybe had a Autometer ProComp Idiot Gauge there

Re: question about hole in dash

Yep ac vent holes. He must have used his pocket knife on it though. I've seen better cleaner holes made by bullets.

Re: question about hole in dash

dont matter what the hole looks like, the a/c vent would cover it anyways
