ok this is weird, are these drop spindles, and are these rear coils?

im going to attach like 5 or so pictures

do these look like drop spindles?
do these look like rear coils? (theyre pigtailed on top and cut on bottom)
this isnt the stock shock mount is it? looks like he welded it back on 1.5" higher.

ok, i dismantled the drivers side susp today. im thinking the previous owner took the stock rear coils, hacked them, then he stuck them in the front with a 1" rubber spacer on lower arm (must have been too low).

now the front is HAMMERED, at least a 5" drop, maybe 5.5" is it possible that these arent drop spindles and i was driving around with 5" worth of drop coils?. i mean the coils are WAY short. i did a comparision with the height of my bags and it appears to me that these might not be drop spindles.

the upper arms were shimmed out alot and there was still a good ammount of negative camber.

now the amazing part of this ghetto rigged susp... IT RODE LIKE A DREAM. yep i bought this truck back last nov and it rode smoother than my brand new 2001 s10 blazer daily driver (blazer was stock susp then, now its lowered and rides like a brick)

if these are in fact rear coils and those arent drop spindles then this may be a neat trick to getting a 4" drop or so (dont cut as much to geth 5" like my truck had, or you wont be able to align it properly).

anyways check out the pics and try answer my questions up top.

the shock mount looks different. I will have to look at my truck tommorow to know for sure. Your springs have defineitly been cut but those are front coils because rear coils are too wide to fit in the front

Those are stock front springs that have bee cut. The rear springs would be too big around to fit in the pocekts.

The spindles look to be stock and not dropped.

The shock mounts are for sure moved up. You can see the stock holes about an inch below.

As for the camber. I just put my front suspension back together with everything new. The only reused parts are the a-arms themselves and I am still having to put significant shims in to not have a negative camber! Of course, time will tell once all the weight is back on the frame.

I thought the stock front springs were straight and did not have the coils closer together at the top (or bottom) like you picture shows. The rears have this but like 1971 said they wont fit. they may be out of a chevelle or something else. I bleieve you do have stock spindles. good luck.

The front coils have a pigtail at the top, but not at the bottom. those look to be a cut stock coil......not sure how much tho. I have 1 ring lopped off the springs on the longhorn, & have roughly a 3" drop.......with shock relocators(my own design), & stock lenght monroe gas LT's, it rides & handles good. I cant say much for the balljoint angles tho! You have stock spindles, the dropped spindles bring the "pin" up closer to the center . I think that 2" max on a spring drop would be a better deal as far as front geometry, & coupled with a 2 1/2 " spindle would be a pretty fair drop. good luck......crazy AL

well i guess it is possible to run a 5" drop coil. you just have to raise the shock mount and forget about ever having it aligned properly lol.

honestly it rode so good i wouldnt have changed it if it wasnt for the camber problem, oh and the headers dragging on speedbumps lol.

its getting bagged right now, gonna get all the components powder coated first.
