Ah yes...JB Weld. Their home is right here in Sulphur Springs. I know the owner of the company. Is good stuff. The stuff sets up STRONG!

Yeah it might work, but make sure it is clean then rough up the surface to get a good bond. Out of curiousity what exactlly is leaking the collector gasket or is there a hole in the collector?

being its down low and wont get nearly as hot as at the head it may work. i tried to use it on my toyota one time and it turned to water as soon as the exhuasut manifold got hot.

Re: JB compound to stop a small header leak?

where the 4 tubes combine, inside their, thats why a weld would be so tough. Its not the gasket (per the trusted exhaust guy)

Re: JB compound to stop a small header leak?

We used it on a stock cast exhaust manifold and it lasted 3 or 4 months

Re: JB compound to stop a small header leak?

I had a Headman header on a 1980 Toyota PU that lasted 12 years. It kept rusting out in the same place you mentioned and I just took it to the local garage and they welded it twice during it's life time.

Bob

They have to weld it from inside the collector.

Re: JB compound to stop a small header leak?

I tried JB Weld on my '72's stock exh. Y-Pipe and after two days of smelling burning epoxy, it finally said "I'm outta here" and fell to the blacktop.

Re: JB compound to stop a small header leak?

If you want to putty it, use muffler and tailpipe putty from NAPA, the hotter it gets, the harder it gets, had good luck on a 327 mani with it.

Re: JB compound to stop a small header leak?

jb weld will not work, it does not expand and contract the same way the steel in the headers will, It will not last
