Blazer Bedside R&R

I have a '71 Blazer with a very rusty bed floor and a good floor with bad bed sides from a '72. Where is the best location to seperate the bed sides in the door jamb area?

The door jamb area looks fairly significant and appears to be welded to the floor. I assume it would be best to leave it with the bedside? How to I cut it off the floor?

Re: Blazer Bedside R&R

This area gets a little tricky on the blazers. The floor if left flat comes out ok but it really is kind of intergrated to the B pillars. The blazer bedsides if bought as a complete replacement unit from GM would be available with most of the B pillar intact or as simply a complete outer skin. I would opt for keeping as much of the pillar intact as possible. There are several bolts in there as well as some minor welding holding the b pillar to the floor. You really have to assess the strength of what is there and what isn't. With the vertical section attached to the front of the rear floor, that adds signifcant stiffness to the assembly so my first choice would be to just unbolt and remove the flat floor and replace---if the rest is solid.
