Yep, it's the rear end.

We changed the carrier bearing and all the U joints, the klunk sound is still there so we checked the differential a little closer and holy sh!t, the diff cover is pushed outward in the middle. Oh well, I was going to change the gears anyway.

Ahhh Crap! That Sucks!
I was hoping it was the u-joints or carrier.
Sorry to hear it was the diff.

my buddies rear diff was leakin on his muffler...that stunk like $hit...does the diff fluid stink that bad even when it isnt on a hot muffler

The synthetic stuff isn't as offensive...but the dinosaur gear oil will always make you wanna yak...clean or 30 years old.
Huge bummer on your rear though man.

Dion; I always thought the Dana 60 was Bullet Proof

Oh well, I'm suprised they lasted this long with the way I drive We're putting 3.73 in this week, I'm thinking they will work a little better with the 3000 stall, I hope.

Yeah, gear oil is mega rank! Think it's got x amount of sulphur in it, gag you fresh out of the bottle. Burnt auto trans fluid comes in a close second.
