Good "under caoting" spray?

Getting ready to install my new motor. I am going to spray my frame(engine bay part) with an undercoating style paint and am just curious to see if anyone has done this. My Father suggested 3M undercoat. Are there thick and thin versions of the spray? I have cleaned the area pretty good for the most part. I would much rather sandblast the whole frame but cash flow does not permist now.

i would also recomond the 3m rubberized undercoating. it will spray on much more uniform than the other cheap stuff. it's just like tape you can buy crap or you can buy the good stuff. i don't think you can go wrong with 3m

Maybe use some spray on bedliner, paint or something, but I don't think I would use regular undercoat stuff on the frame and suspension pieces. If you get gasoline, oil or brake fluid on undercoat, you may end up with a sticky gooey mess. Maybe get some foam brushes and some cheap bristle brushes and a quart of Rustoleum semi-gloss and have at it, much better than undercoat IMHO.

I got a can of undercoating from Napa once--I can't remember which brand it was, but it kicked @ss. It dried like paint and hardened up almost like a bedliner. I sprayed it on the cab corners of my truck. I just wish I could remember exactly what brand it was.

I wouldn't recommend any type of rubberized undercoating in the engine bay as well. Any type of solvents, gas, or oil will affect it. There are many types of "do it yourself" bed liner type of coatings out there that would work great just as long as you prep the areas you intend to spray correctly. I've used Sherwin Williams brand a number of times and it work fine.
