Smile Both battery cables (littlewire ?)

On the positive battery cable , does the little wire hook up to the little black block on the passenger inside fender ,with the little bolt coming out of the middle? and on the negative battery cable does the little wire go to the inside of the fender to ground? Thanks guys my truck is getting there. I'll have some pics pretty soon. Thank you .Dave

mine grounds to the block and then there is a ground from each valve cover to the frame.

Re: Both battery cables (littlewire ?)

(402BB)my negative cable grounds to the water pump , but there is also a little wire that comes out on the negative cable right where the negative attaches to the battery.

Actually, IIRC there is no ground strap to the rad support... that ground pigtail is quite important.. the headlights as a pair are the most demanding items on the truck. Without a proper ground, they'll glow a dim embarasing orange instead of white.

Re: Both battery cables (littlewire ?)

Extra grounds never hurt, I aways put a ring terminal, soldered if you want on the extra ground from the Neg terminal and run it to the top bolt on the side of the battery box.

On the Pos side, on 67-70, the wire that connects to the block on the fender, you should use a 16 ga fusible link, soldered and heat shrinked. 71-72 IIRC put the fusible link in the main red wire going across, so you can use regular wire there on those years.

The large end of the ground wire usually goes to the water pump, or it may look bettter going to the head, scrape paint fron the head, use a star washer under the cable for best contact.

Can some of you please check where your little ground wires are located on your trucks and let me know? Thank you. Dave
