I just got a price to chrome my mirrors ($400 ea!)

I'm going to have chrome powder coat done ($35 ea)

Good luck in your area but it's unreal here in PA, enviromental cleanup + copper is high now.

generally if the part is available repoped you can buy it new for about 20% of what it will cost you to have it replated

I ran across a small shop in Greensboro by accident. They had a 67 out front and I stopped to ask about it. Have no idea of their quality but by the 30's grille they were doing and some other old weird stuff somebody must trust them.
Since the EPA has cracked down chrome shop prices have really climbed.
I will say that if you find a great shop the parts look so much better than repopped stuff.
Like body work the more prep, copper work etc the better it looks. Time is money!
Not mine of course but it seems like everybody else's is!

and I have little of both, xtreme-chrome powder coat for my items that i can't get repop, looks more like SS though.
