Need advice what engine/trans

Just brought home a big pain in the neck.
67 short step. good cab and front clip.
The truck has a 6 in it. I want to go to a 350.
What year engine should i look for.
Also looking for a 350 auto trans. will I need long or short

just about anything will work well
any year 350 with HEI ignition would be an easy job

That's the nice thing about chevy, just about anything will swap in. I would go with a short shaft though because if you have the drive shaft already you wouldn't need to buy another one.
What 6, 292? Been looking for a 67 292....I have a 74 now but want to make it orginal.
Pm me if you are interested in getting rid of it and it's a 292. I have a good short shaft 350 i would trade.
