Good score

I see threads here about guys finding good stuff in the boneyards, but I have never had anyluck until the pullapart yard opened up about 5 miles from my house. I have been checking their website and have been there a couple of times trying to find a good 67-8 grill. Tuesday morning I check it and it said they had just got a 67 in a couple of days ago, so I'm thinking it is stripped by now, if not before it got there. I pack my tools and head over anyway, and walk back to it and wallah!! a perfect 67-8 grill, and lower valance, no trim or bezels, but a straight virtually rust free grill
(surface only) for $20, and 1 1/2 hour of my time, rusty bolts I also got a complete uncut under hood wiring harness including the light harness for another $8, what a deal, I went ahead and got the hood hinges and the grill support and the hood latch, serpentine brackets off a 89 blazer for my buddy's 85 s-10 283 swap project, pulley, assorment of bolts and nuts, one non gauge cluster and one with gauges for a total of $110. no pics of the wiring harness or other parts but here is a pic of the grill.. just had to share

Re: Good score

What a deal! I sure paid a lot more than that for the same stuff. I put the serpentine system from a '93 350 on mine (before I started over and took it back down to the frame). You probably already realize that the fan and water pump run in the opposite direction with the serpentine system. I had to go back and get these too. But then it went together pretty easy.

Re: Good score

I was very pleased with the parts!! This is the first time I have dealt with this type of pullapart. Each part has a preset price no matter what car it came off of, so no guesswork and no pulling the part only to find out the yard wants twice what it is worth . The later being more common in boneyards, ya know when they say I am not sure what that costs take it of and let them see it then they will price it.
