S-10 door seals, HOW DO YOU MAKE THEM WORK!!???
Bought a set of brand new S-10 door seals off a board member. I was all excited and put it neatly around the door and closed the door, or at least I TRIED TO. I pushed until it felt like the door was going to bend (goodmark door ) but would NOT close past the first "click" on both the DS and PS side. I can understand the if the doors closed hard for a month or so, but not close at all?
Everything appears fine around the door, except for the vertical edge at the front, that seems to be the area where the seal won't let the door fully close. Is there any tricks to make this work? I just called a couple local yards and they want $40 for a used set??? WTF??? Am I doing something wrong? Any tips/tricks to make this work... it sure is loud/cold driving with no door seals!

I got mine for about $5 from an early '90s fullsize Chevy truck at the local U-Pull. Already broken in too.
On brand new weatherstripping, you'll need to adjust your doors out a bit until it seals or put it on on a hot sunny day and leave the door closed for a week until they break in.

Not trying to hijack the thread here but where can you get the S10 seals?

Precision Makes A Weatherstip Kit (both Doors) For 29.00,3
(dwp 1110 67) Why Not Use Those? Are The S10 Seals Better? I Think 29.00 Is Cheap Enough To Get The Correct Seals. |

Re: S-10 door seals, HOW DO YOU MAKE THEM WORK!!???
S-10 seals really work but they do require time to have the doors shut without closing them with some force. We put a set on my son's 70 which had some pretty loose fitting doors and it took (6) months for them to settle in. We did not loosen the door strikers but that would have helped.
Some doors have the window frame hitting early and the only solution that I know of is to bend the window frame for clearance. We got our seals from GMC Pauls www.gmcpauls.com Jim |

Got my push on seals from GMC pauls and they still require a slam to shut the doors. Hopefully they break in soon!
