Re: Gear Vendors?

basically an overdrive unit that bolts the the back of your tranny. They run about $2500.

they aren't much work to install but you would have to have your driveshaft shortened.

Re: Gear Vendors?

Hmm. This probably isn't something I'm going to do right away. Have to do my 3/5 drop first and switch to a posi 3.73. Thanks for the help though. Since my truck is going to be going ~80 miles a day for school, I might want to put this on my list. You've helped alot. I wasn't sure if this was a full tranny or just the overdrive gear.

Re: Gear Vendors?

It's gonna take a LOT of miles to pay for a gear vendors unit just in gas mileage savings.

Re: Gear Vendors?

Yeah and with me being in college in all, it can't really be justified right now. Well come to think of it... nothing can really be justified but I'm going to probably blow all my money on my truck, just like always.

Re: Gear Vendors?

Went to a swap meet in Albany, OR this weekend and a fellow had a GV unit for sale. His son bought it and never used it(might have been used when he bought it). Was for sale for $600.00. I was tempted but passed it up. Don't know if it sold or not.

At $600 it might be worth the time and trouble to install. Still not as good as the board member who scored one at the pick-a-part for $65.
