if you loosen the bolts for the latch and move it out it will latch sooner allowing them to shut but make sure it isn't out too far or it wont be even and it will leak

Re: new weatherstipping- doors wont close

I feel your pain jamon8.

I replaced the old, squashed door seals on my truck with new ones and couldn't get the door to close unless I absolutely slammed them shut. It almost seems that some of the replacement door seals are too thick or the doors on our trucks have been adjusted to account for the old, thin seals and don't close properly with new ones.

A few people have already suggested adjusting the door hinges and latches. I would suggest that is a likely place to start. Funny how a simple thing like change the door seals turns into a major project.

I'm sorry I don't have a solution for you, I put the old ones back in because I am in the process of building a different cab to put on my chassis. I hope someone on the board has a solution for you.

In the bottom pic where the window frame meets the door skin. if you look at the weatherstrip, that sticks out into the jam, it is stopping the door from closing

I wish I knew how to circle things

I was considering cutting the weatherstrip down in that area

I know that when I put weatherstrips on my bird it was very hard to close the doors for a month

have you concidered warming up the rubber with a heat gun before closing it. it could just be that the rubber is stiff from being new and the heat would probably make it a little more maluble allowing the door to close. either way it will probably be a little while before they break in.

jamon8- did you leave an air gap (per the factory manual) to relieve pressure?. Another trick is to pierce holes every few inches around the perimeter. These won't be seen and they seem to help.
