I am using it anyway, I just hope I do not need to swap gears to match up the ratio!

Oh BTW the guy walked away!! (I was figuring he was drunk) but we have open range with cows, horses, sheep, deer, and an occasional elk so you never know!!
look at the 8th didget and that will tell you its a 70 sumthin like if its a 3 the its a 73 if its a 6 its a 76 you get where im goin

Actually, since it is a GMC of unknown year, he'll need to post more than that. GMC chainged there VIN layout a few times... almost year to year, and actually in some years there was more than one way of doing it.

the rear is either a d60 or eaton, you said it had a smooth rear cover, 14b has a diamond shape with a squared off peak.

if its a th350 auto it has 205 t case.

hopefuly that front bumper is still straight cause it looks bad ass.

what winch?

No I said the rear is not smooth, so it is a 14 bolt, maybe a 60? Definately not an eaton. There is a winch hiding behind the carnage!! It is a 4-speed, but still hoping for a 205 (I say hoping cause I took it to the in-laws for storage and I didn't check it) The bumper is perfect (the mounts are a little bent, but I can cut them off and reweld new ones onto it) The rear bumper matches the front and they are made of like 1/4" thick steel!! I believe those will go on the K5. I'll take lots of picts as I take it apart, man the passenger's side framerail is wrapped up around the motor, so I am planning to torch it apart!!

What do I need to look for? The tag inside the driver's door is there but not very long, is there anything else? I won't be near it till Wed of next week, but any ideas of where to look to verify the year? It really doesn't make or break it, just curious!! I think I'll still keep it!!

i was just rereading the post and relized that i miss read the cover part, a d60 cover is almost identical to a d44 just bigger.

i see the winch but which winch is it?

is it divorced or a mated t case? divorced is definatly a rocwell 221, mated could be either. 205 will have a blue rectangular id plate between the frount out put and the input of the tcase.

It is a warn winch, and I'll be under the truck in a day or two so I can give better info. I hope to pull everything off of it over turkey day (5 day weekend for me) and have most if not all onto the 68 short fleet 4X4 3/4ton say that fast 2-3 times!!
