Ive talked to several people at shows, about there aftermarket AC units, and most all of them bought a Vintage Air unit, and then took it out and put in a different system.I have vintages catalogs,i think in my wagon im gonna go with old air,but in the 20years from now that it might be done,im sure there will be some other new and better place to buy from. You dont need a real big setup for a truck its a small space to cool, there is a 64 Impala 4dr at a nearby boneyard with a underdash GM unit,i thought about buying all of it,wants $50 but it probably wouldnt cool a big ole wagon, maybe i should spend that $50 and make it driveable first.well its driveable now,if you dont need exhaust

I plan on using a Hot Rod Air unit. I talked to their guys last year at a street rod show and was very impressed with their knowledge and helpfulness.
I asked them about using the stock OEM A/C controller for our trucks and they told me that I could send it to them and they would make all the cable hook-ups to make it work with their unit. The Vintage Air kit used solenoids for the valve controls and you had to use their control unit, whereas the Hot Rod Air unit was availible with manual/cable controls or the servo motor units. Hope this helps.... ------------------ Keep On Truckin' Shane Athens, Alabama |

I talked to the Vintage Air guys at Goodguys Del Mar. They told me I can use my heat/AC control panel with their cables. I put Vintage in the Studebaker Wagon 2 years ago, and I got to tell ya, it will freeze you out if you let it. I'll go with them again.

From my research old air came out on top for best functional design and customer service.
I had planned on using southern air but was advised to put in some research. |
