More progress

Got the engine together and In!!!
After battling driveshaft and fan shroud problems (thanks for all your input on those guys!) I was finally able to fire her up tonight.Bought the engine and tranny from a guy last summer and he said it ran great. I bought it out of the vehicle so had to take the word of a guy from an hour away that I had never met nor would probably meet again. Said it came out of a 1978 chevy van and ran excellent. Ran the numbers and it is really out of a 74 truck I think. Was painted blue but when I pressure washed it it turned out mostly orange Thats ok , didn't care what it came out of as long as it runs good. I had to swap out the intake and valve covers as they had all the extra vacuum fittings and such. When I had the valve covers off I was really impressed with how clean it was.Had some extra rtv sealant squeeze out here and there so I know it has been apart for something .Swapped out exhaust manifolds and went to short water pump and had a heck of a time finding all the right pulleys. Got the driveshaft shortened 3" today cause of a 9" tailshaft ($47) didn't think that was to bad. While they were doing that I put the exhaust on (Package deal from LMC) and I highly recommend it. Alittle tough figuring out what goes where as no part numbers but once the jigsaw puzzle was in place and tightened up it fit real nice. Well anyway I hit the key and she fired right up . Timing was only off by about 8 degrees. ain't bad after remove and replace HEI. Of course she spit antifreeze all over from a broken heater core . Must have pushed alittle to hard when installing as leaked right where nozzle enters core. Quick run to oreill's and shes back togehter. runs like a top!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a relief on unknown engine and tranny!
Of course the brakes failed on maiden voyge ( interesting trying to get it back up to the garage) trip to oreilly's tomorrow for new front brake calipers. Oh well. Your probably wondering why the hood is still off . well while it was in the garage waiting for reattachment the D$%*@m thing blew over and dented the heck out of the front edge.
Anyway it's all progress
Sorry for long post just had to keep ya up to date

Re: More progress

That looks great! Isn't it a nice feeling when you get something like that project accomplished and you know it's all your own work and no one elses?
