Source for heater ducting?

Forgive the newb question (I did search)... My newly inherited 71 is in dire need of a few minor things before going into daily service. Most are easily remedied, but I haven't had a chance to fully survey the heater/defroster ducts. I was told that the ducts are all rotted out, and based on the defroster's performance, I believe it.

Are the ducts specific, or will the generic spiral hose-type stuff work fine? If they're specific, is there a preferred place to buy them?

Thanks,
Eric

Re: Source for heater ducting?

I know any place that sells resto truck parts in your area will sell the proper size and length ducting. Generic pep-boys stuff can probably be used as well but IIRC this stuff is pretty cheap so buying the proper ones won't cost you many more $$.

e rock, you can get the real stuff from any vendor on this BB.I can't remember which is close to you.I have found the vendors here to be more reasonable pricewise than some. There is a vendor reveiw section that will help you figure out who you want to do business with.

BTW Welcome to the "Bible" for these trucks.

I have used the the generic crap from the parts store & it was just that, generic crap. It is worth getting the good stuff & that way you only have to be on your back reaching up under the dash cussing only one time. They are only like $15.00 or $20.00 for a set(non a/c cab) Welcome to the board from a fellow washington stater.

Get the original style fabric ones from a vendor. The plastic ones they sell are a pita! The fabric style ones are alittle expensive but well worth the money.

Re: Source for heater ducting?

Thanks for the help and the welcome. I'm happy to have found this place. My other hobby is old Toyota Land Cruisers, and I've been spoiled by online forums. This seems like a great community, and I'm looking forward to fixing the little issues with "Grampa's truck" - my grandpa bought this '71 brand new and it's been in the family since. I've wanted it ever since I can remember riding in it to go fishing as a little kid.
