6 bolt vs 5 bolt wheels
I recently bought a 1970 c10 Custom that came 6 bolt wheels. I am planning on converting to disc brakes - front and back. Any advantage of 6 bolt vs. 5 bolt wheels?

Re: 6 bolt vs 5 bolt wheels
4x4 or 2wd i know i have a 70 gmc 1500 and its 2wd with 6 bolt pattern and i was told they do not make disk convertions for 6 bolt 2wd so as far as i know you need to find a 2wd 6 bolt with disks or you may be able to get them off of a 73-87 possibly

Re: 6 bolt vs 5 bolt wheels
You can get disk conversion for 6-lug from ECE or CPP. As for advantages of one over another? 5-lug IMO has more choices for aftermarket wheels.
I have 6-lug on my '67 and have discs up front.

Re: 6 bolt vs 5 bolt wheels
keeping the 6 lug is cheaper since you don't have to change the axles, rear drums, and rims. however like others have said if you plan on changing the rims 5 lug is easyier to find custom and or nicer stock rims.

Re: 6 bolt vs 5 bolt wheels
Its probably just me but I like the look of the 6 bolt rallies better than 5 bolt rallies. Thats the big reason Im leaving mine 6 bolt...

Re: 6 bolt vs 5 bolt wheels
a huge advantage to going 5 lug, is you can get rotors anywhere in the country, and there will be a parts store that'll have them on hand. 6 lug rotors are special order.
You can do 5 lug cheaper if you are carefull...with the exception of the bling wheels you may already have... but if you have nasty wheels, and bling is in your future, then it is a moot point. |

Re: 6 bolt vs 5 bolt wheels
Getting parts is always a plus. so thats is what I would do. And it really isn't that big a deal to swap it over. IMO. others my think different.
