everyone post your lowered trucks measurements here!

this is to help people like me who bought a truck already lowered and want to know exactly how much it was lowered.

measure from the ground up through the middle of your wheel until the the tape measure hits the center of you fender lip. (this should be roughly the highest point of the fender lip curve, but your measuring from the bottom.) also see attached picture

if you dont know exactly how much your truck was dropped or dont know tire sizes then dont post, id like to get accurate measurements for us to compare to. this will also help the guys with airbags to determine what their ride height is etc.

for example my measurements were 26.5" front 29.5" rear on 205/75/15s and 235/75/15s and im an unsure of what mines dropped (im guessing 5.5/5")

TTT

sorry purple, our measurements are useless without at least one person knowing their exact drop and measurement.

not one person have a truck dropped 2/4 3/5 4/6 or anything that can measure?

please help a fellow 67-72 owner out.

Gang, you all need to be measuring from a fixed point... either from the lip to the center of the hub or the lip to the bottom edge of the wheel (then we'll need to know what diameter wheel you have). Otherwise there's no real way to correlate the various measurements. Even if we know tire size, 3 brands of the EXACT same tire size will all be different heights. So... go back and re-measure :-)

BTW, here are my measurements as described in my previous post. (Yuck... that was supposed to be more legible. It reads 10" front and rear.)

OK everybody... I'm hoping this sinks in. Measuring from the ground doesn't tell you anything about your suspension height. You need to measure from a fixed source like the wheel lip or the center of the hub. Here's an example. Would anyone believe that my truck could magically change heights without me adjusting the airbags? (Please say no.) OK, I'm not going to touch the airbags but if I change tires it's going to change the height of the truck. See... that's why we need to be measuring from a fixed place, since we all have different tire sizes and brands.

(phew...)

well my original post did say please include your tire size. if you know the tire size then it doesnt take a math whiz to factor out the difference from tire heights. i wasnt looking for 100% accurate measurements, just something to get a rough idea. either method will work, but yes your idea is better cause it elimnates any alight tire error. actually measuring from the center of the hub to fenderlip would be most accurate since rim diameter wouldnt have to be factored in as well.

Mine measures 16―" from wheel center to fender lip, all the way around. I know it's been lowered, but I'm curious as to how much? Anyone have measurements for a stock ride-height C10?

russ if you compare that to brads measurements above, 4/4" drop with a measurement of 15" all around then it seems that yours would be around 2.5"/2.5"

thanks for posting guys, the more measurements the more accurate of an average i/we can get.

i measured both trucks....

my stock 68 and my heated spring lowered 71...I now have concrete evidence of one thing that I was suspicous of.

The bed on the 68 is tweaked... visible from a distance behind the truck.

measured from the center of the center cap to the lip

68
front 19" 19"
rear 18.5" 19.75"

71
front 16" 15.75"
rear 17.5" 17.5"

ok i just went out w/ a straight edge and measured it right.
Front
18 17

17.5 17.5
Rear

The driverside front corner sits 1'' higher that the passenger side. This is also the corner that has about -1 degree of camber.
It is also the side of the truck that lifts under hard acceleration. Im going to a chassis dyno to get the rear wheel figures on the motor.
Could the torque of the motor tweaked something?

For those of you finding the corners not being the same height (like an inch or less difference from right to left), that's actually pretty normal. I've lowered several hundred trucks in my life and it is not uncommon to see slight variations... and while it doesn't look bad on a stock height truck, the problem exacerbates itself when you lower a vehicle because the 1" difference is now a larger part of the total height (as in 1" diff. on the 19" stock height, and now is 1" on the 13" lowered height). Typically you can solve this kind of issue with small shims in the rear. The front is a little trickier... but also less common to see a difference from side to side.

OK, I went out and measured mine. Looks like the front is 15" and the rear is 17". Correct me if I'm wrong please, but wouldn't that be something like a 4/2 drop?

was wondering if anybody has just put in new stock springs and could possibly measure from the center of the center cap to the lip of the fender.
