K10 2.5" ram horns
Can't decide to go with headers or 2.5" ram horns. Can you tell the different on a completely stock 350 between the two?
Also I can't seem to find the right model ram horns. Anybody have them in a 4x4 with A/C? If so, what model or casting number works. ------------------ 71 C20 Cheyenne 71 K10 SWB Cheyenne 72 C10 Cheyenne

I replaced my Heddman headers with 64 'vette Rams Horns on the Jimmy. I LOVE mine. They seem to make as much power and better torque. They are quiet and leak free and make changing plugs MUCH easier. At the same time I switched to 2 1/2" exhasut and Dynomax Hemi turbos from the 2 1/4" and Turbo King mufflers that were behind the headers. I was removing the generator mounts so I used two drivers side manifolds since they were the cheapest ones I could find. I have a metal cutting bandsaw that easily lopped the mounts off. I then rounded off the sharp edges and painted them with high temp paint. Mine came from Eckler's Corvette parts and were $82 each. PAW has them for $129 or so and I have heard that Jim Pace and Scoggin Dickey are between $75-85 but I can't confirm that.

I have those same manifolds on my Blazer, and I agree with Mike - they work good for a lot of reasons. I did not put my A/C compressor back on after the rebuild, so I am not sure if the part of the bracket that bolts on with the manifold bolts will work with these manifolds or not. I can't be affected too much though since the manifolds are very clost to the stock ram's horns.

Are all ramhorns for a 350 the same? What years are better or worse? I have been considering switching my headers to ramhorns but i'm not sure about what years will work. I have a '70 chevy K-10 w/350.

Any straight dump rams horn will work on a 4x4 small block truck. The 2 1/2" exit corvette manifolds are the most high performance.

I just received my 62 vette ramhorns from www.gmpartsdirect.com, $86 a piece ordered part #s 3797901 and 3814970. Both have mounts that will need to be cut off if you have asessories on both sides(I don't have AC so will definetly cut the left side off and maybe leave the right side mount on). Hope to have mine on by the end of the month.

Thanks! The mounts were throwing me off but it sees like you can cut them off. I'll order the '62 vette horns and do some hacking. Gotta love this board!

misfits, the 65-68 ones use a drivee side one that has a boss on the front and two threaded holes that wont work on 69-72 truck engines,
you need to find a 69-72 one, angled back driver side one if is 2wd, straight center dump if is a 4x4 of any year, but 67 68 and older need ot have that boss on the front if you have a 67 68 with original alternator brackets i have a pics of the 65-68 driver one that you dont want if you have a 69-72 truck, email me and i will show close ups of side and front end holes so you know what not to get unless you have 65-68 truck,. good luck |

The straight dump ramhorns are symetrical so if you can find the side that doesn't have the accesssory mounts you can order two of them and they will work for either side. This would eliminate having to cut off the accessory bracket(s). I think these were only available on the earlier year Corvettes. There are other years that had the 2.5" Ramhorn but had the mentioned accessory brackets. I found a set of good ones used for $80..You could try postiing in the Parts section..maybe someone has some for sale..

The only ones without the brackets were the 69 and up 2 1/2" rams horns. They are stupid expensive however at over $300 each!!!!!! Buy the cheap one and whack off the bracket if you have a 69-72. If you have an older motor without accessory holes in the heads, get one of each side 63-64 and you should be able to use stock brackets.
