Question Voltage Issue Help Please

All, my voltmeter (Autometer) guage is registering 16.0 volts, I replaced the regulator and no change. Any thoughts on what to check to see where the issue is

Re: Voltage Issue Help Please

Make sure the only line from your alternator to your battery passes through the voltage regulator. Double-check your connections to the regulator to make sure it's actually passing through the regulator

PS - Pretty sure you should test the voltage where the lead from the regulator terminates at the battery.

Re: Voltage Issue Help Please

Also,if you have one check voltage at the batt while running. It should show around 14 volts or so.There are 2.2 volts per cell in a 12 volt batt so it should show 13.2 if it's fully charged. With it running it should be around 14 volts. You may just have a gage problem but if not your batt is overcharging.
