Liftin a '91 Burb

I have a 91 suburban and want to put 35s on it, but not sure what lift to run. I heard if you put a 4" lift on youll need to cut the wheel wells, but if you put a 6" lift on you will need to extend the driveshafts. I am not sure what to do any suggestions. I have contemplated even just getting a 2" lift and running 33X12.5 on it. I just need some input from people who have had these thoughts done this stuff or know people who have. Also, any pics of trucks lifted and with these tires owuld be great to help me decide. Thanks a TOn.

P.S. I have been lurkin a while and think this board is really great, and gives me some cool ideas.

you will need some minor fender trimming to clear 35s with 4"... for more info you might try www.coloradok5.com if you havent already... dont get me wrong.. not trying to run you off. just trying to get you the info you are seeking!

If you lift it 6", it will clear the 35's pretty well. But then you will need to extend the rear driveshaft (cost about $100 including balancing at a driveshaft shop.) The front will PROBABLY be ok at stock, but it would of course be better the have that one done to (same price.)

If you lift it 4", you won't have to extend either driveshaft (would still be a good idea, but will not be required.) But the 35's will hit the fenders. You can run 33's which won't hit anything, or you can trim the fenders, which is not for the faint of heart. It is also not for those who still have pretty sheetmetal and want to keep it that way. This is really more of a older truck thing since you would then need to take it to a body shop to have them re-do the fender lip (cutting leaves a sharp edge) and then repainted. Older trucks just smooth the cut with some sandpaper and rattle can it.

My advise: If you are really on a budget, go 4" and 33's.
If you can afford the extra for the driveshaft(s) go 6" and 35's.

Of course there is always body lifts (yuk) but they work.
