Re: Drop Spindles?

Just looked at Early Classic's Drop Kits. The only spindles I found were 2'' drops that convert C-20's 8 lug to a C-10's 5 or 6 lug rotor. I have to keep it 8 lug because of the Dana 60 dually rear axle. Thanks for the help so far.

Re: Drop Spindles?

Good luck! Hope you find something. I've never seen anything except 5-lug and 6-lug. If CPP (classic performance), McGaughy's and ECE don't have it, I dunno who else will. Check with GMCPauls.com and Classicheartbeat.com - either might be able to help.

Re: Drop Spindles?

I have been on the search also and the only option I found was Aim industries and they are for the 73 Up 8 lug but that is as simple as a ball jiont switch. I do however have questioned the quality of them. They have a disclaimer saying offset wheels may break the spindle and I feel if a 3/4 ton spindle breaks due to offset wheels It shoouldn't be sold, But thats my opinion. I chose to Z the frame to get the drop instead and run stock spindles for now

Re: Drop Spindles?

I've heard the same thing about AIM as well about broken spindles. What do you mean about "Z"ing the frame, that's a new one for me.

On the 20 series trucks, the spindles/ balljoints run from 71-87....unlike the 1/2 ton trucks that are 71-72 specific, then 73- 87. I think I have seen spindles for the 3/4 ton trucks , if I find the link I will post it.... L

Check out this project, his ride has a 3" Z in the front(pics not quite half way down the page). You don't have to go that low if you don't want, I think he also has a body drop.

Talking Re: Drop Spindles?

I just installed the AIM spindles on 72 c20. They fit ok and went to oreillys (sp) asked for c20 upper and lower balljoints. Three hours later had 3in drop up front w/spindles and 5 out back w/ springs. Have no rubbing or bottoming out issues. Even installed the block hugger headers from flowtech w/minor mods at the muffler shop to make it fit. I tell you what you will like the look it gives the truck and ride is very nice compared to stock. Put in some thrusher cherry bombs w/ turndowns and sounds mean. Will post pics tomorrow and maybe a vid.

Re: Drop Spindles?

Pics would be great. What is your opinion on the quality? Did they seem to fit well? I can't wait to tuck some of the lugs on mine , after all I got 8 on each wheel

Re: Drop Spindles?

Quality was good did not have any issues installing. The guy that did them said it was like installing spindles on the other blazers and trucks that he has done. The guy that I had installed was shopped around because wanted to use someone who knows what they are doing. I believe he said that it took longer to put the springs out back because bolts holding the spring were siezed (sp) and had to be replaced. Will try to have pics up soon. I have oem steel white 16.5 wheels and will stay 8 lug. Cost is just as much to convert to 5 or 6 and cost to get 8 lug wheel. Why convert if we already have disc up front.

Re: Drop Spindles?

Well Zing the frame is alittle bit more than I am wanting to get involved with. I found some 2 1/2 drop spindles listed at Classic Perform for 71-87 C-20's and of course it says call for price but I guess they have them so I'm going the easy route. Thank you all for your input.

Re: Drop Spindles?

Here is a link for a 2.5" drop from performance online that is 8 lug.

http://www.performanceonline.com/sto...at=1076&page=1

Includes brake rotors, drop spindles, bearings, calipers, etc. Check it out if you don't want to z the frame.

Also they offer a deluxe kit with a power booster and m/c.
