flasher switch
So when I was testing out my flashers to see if they worked (they did), the button got stuck down. Then, trying to pull the button back out, my nice, original flasher button decided that 37 years was a long enough life. Now my flashers on constantly on. How can I turn them back off without the button? I couldn't see anything to pull out. Well, except for the relay at the fuse box. Thanks.

Re: flasher switch
Is there still a stub in there? if so get a small screw or go to a pull a part and get a newer knob that screws in and install it. If this doesnt work you are going to have to remove the steering wheel and replace the switch if it is a non tilt colum. If it is a tilt coulum it uses a seperarte screw on knob. Sorry.

Re: flasher switch
Yeah, I've been w/o flasher button since I got this truck. My daughter decided to pull out the "cute little orange thing"... Any way, atleast the flashers were off...

Re: flasher switch
simply pulling the flasher out will get the job done, but your front markers will come on when you hit the brakes, and I don't think the turn signals will work when you hit the brakes either.
You can reach in there with some real small needle nose pliers and pull on the nub, that should turn them off.... DISCONNECT THE BATTERY before doing this... otherwise, you'll short to ground and blow your fuse. |

Re: flasher switch
you'll have to replace the entire turn signal switch... any parts house or dealership. Before walking out with the part, make sure the adapter is in the box, if not, get one under GM P/N1894851.

Re: flasher switch
Try the local parts store for a new turn signal switch and flasher, whole assembally. I know oreillys carrys them, my friend got one there a couple years back for a 68 straight colum. Hope this helps.

Re: flasher switch
I would highly recommend AC/Delco when you replace it, some of the other after market switches are pretty weak.

Re: flasher switch
The one avaliable at oreillys is the delco one, havent ever used an aftermarket one.
David, I also like the new replacement ones, I like the new style flasher button, works alot better and looks alot better to me than the old ones. Last edited by Aarons72s; 12-12-2006 at 10:37 PM. |
