Help me do the math - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

OK, I'm just trying to figure out if I have 144,602 miles on this truck or 244,602 miles or what. I've owned the truck 7.5 years now and laid down exactly 44,000 miles. Odometer reading was 100,598 miles when I bought it. Is 44,000 miles in 7 1/2 years a lot, not much or about average? At my rate of driving the truck should have about 187,000 miles? So which way to go? down or up?

That's about 6-6.5k miles a year, assuming your odometer is correct. the avg car driven gets about 12k miles per yer put on it supposedly...

my uncles '00 mustang is rounding 60K,my neighbors 99' f250 is rounding 190K 6.5k p/year aint bad at all

i have already put iming belts on 2002's at work and they are 60k belts

I read somewhere that they have moved the old 12k per year up to 20k per year.

6k per year isnt bad at all!

My 70 is still under 100, 000 original. I think many people that bought our trucks in that day probably did below the average. Since I retired from the service my mileage went way down. I probably amy in the "new average" now...tound 20,000 a year on my daily driver and we avaerage another 12-15,000 on the wife's ride. I've had my 70 since End of July and only put about 700 on it (proably in less than 3 weeks really.

I'd say you 144,00 is probably original, unless there were some other extreme to show otherwise. If you did the stated average of the time, average, you should be around 384,000

My best friend from school's dad always says, they are just starting to get broke in between 150,000 to 200,000...You then have another good 150-200 thou to go.

I am limited to 7.5K a year by my insurance, didn't do close to that last year, but we do tend to use my wifes diesel Cherokee for most journeys of any length. I don't have to drive my truck to work either. Average is supposedly12K per year, my wifes cherokee has done nearly 40K this year, but she is a sales person and drives it for work.
