rearend fluid question
i was wanting to change my rearend gear fluid this weekend and i was wondering how much fluid it took and what the specifications are on the oil. its a 72 cheyenne with a 12 bolt rear.

Capacity of the 12 bolt differential is 3 1/2 pints. 90 gear lube was originally used but there are other lubes available.

2quarts is more than enough for a 12bolt rear spend the extra and go synthetic // don't over tighten the cover bots only about 10-15ftlbs are required

crm check to see if it is a limited slip.Someone (hopefully) will chime in and tell you how to tell.Some limited slip rears require a special additive to work.I don't know much about it but I remember seeing some info in a historic post.
