Project Vin Dog - '52 GMC
I'm not a huge believer in fate, but every once in awhile something happens that makes me scratch my head. I very recently sold my '62 C-10 and was cruising eBay just for fun, when I ran across a '52 GMC that eerily resembles the one my Dad bought when I was 16 (that's 21 years ago)...I sold the truck in 1991 to pay for college after my Dad passed away (seemed like the right thing to do at the time).
So out of curiousity, I call the guy and start asking about his history with the truck...turns out it's the same truck! What are the odds? Needless to say, I immediately spent some of the '62 proceeds and have my truck back. My Dad, brother, countless friends and myself all worked on this truck back in the day and did a very amateur resto...we thought it was "awesome" at the time. Even pulled our school float with it my senior year. It's a long way from perfect now and somebody really hacked up the dash and did a couple of other things that will have to be changed back, but I'll gladly put in the work for a piece of family history. My Dad's nickname was "Vin Dog", so I thought it was an appropriate name for this project. I'll update this thread as I go... Attaching a few pics to get started... Pat (a.k.a. 2ndGenRR)

Re: Project Vin Dog
Thanks guys - It's way cool to have it home. They even did a couple of good mods. It now has a 2nd gen Camaro front clip with power steering and brakes. It definitely rides nicer. But for the life of me, I can't understand why they hacked up the original dash to put it S-10 gauges or replaced the front running/turn-signal lights with trailer lights. Oh well, I can fix it...at least they didn't wrap it around a tree!

Re: Project Vin Dog
Thanks Cal - I have been cruising the board awhile, but haven't gotten too involved yet. I know you guys are a wealth of information though...so I thought I would share my story and ask for help along the way.
p.s. My wife read this thread and wants everyone to know what a wonderful, kind, loving person she is for giving up her dream kitchen for "some old truck"!
