Re: Tools for installing bolt-in notch?

The air chisel is basically a fast repetitive air hammer that uses different tips for different functions. Use a sharp, angled, 'chisel' tip to knock off the rivets head & then swap out to a 'punch' tip to finish poking the remainder of the rivet carcass through the hole.

An alternative method to speed the chiseling off of the rivet heads is to first cut them in a criss-cross pattern down to the frame material w/a cut-off wheel. It makes quick work of knocking them off the rest of the way.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Use power tools where possible. If you do this manually, you will want to pack a lunch

Best way is X pattern like SCOTI said. It will drastically reduce your time involved. Then stick your bull-point bit in and punch the remainder out.

Check your local rent-all if you can't get one from a friend . . .....

Good thing. I wouldn't even attempt this without an air chisel. Even with one handy, it is a chore. I usually limit myself to 4-6 rivets a day. That's about all the pounding I can put up with in one session

Good luck -Chris
