Driveshaft single piece.
Hi to all. I have a 72 chevy pickup, half ton, short bed stepside, 350 engine, 400 transmission, two wheel rear drive. My original two piece driveshaft is gone. Does any body know if I can install a one-piece driveshaft, eventhough the truck is still on its original height?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. A.P.

I bought my '69 short stepside with a single driveshaft. The only problem is that I had to notch out the area that the center bearing bolts too. If not, it would hit there occasionally. (when box was loaded)
I can't tell ya what this shaft is off of but one from a newer truck might be your best bet. (You'll have to have it shortened) ------------------ 63 Impala*66 Chevelle SS*69 Chevelle*69 C10 Stepside*71 Cheyenne 20*72 Chevelle Parts for sale: http://www.angelfire.com/trek/mr409/items4sale.html

Yes, you can install one from a mid 70's shortbed. Look around the junk yards, the driveshaft will have to measure 59 to 59 1/2 inches from center cap to center cap.

Some of them came that way. My GMC has a one pce, and an old '67 farm truck I messed with did too. The 67 was original.
